Literature Text

Setting in the early morning hours, a mother thought of the day coming to light.
She sees her child sleeping on the pulled out bed.
She looks across the room at the bare underneath of the Christmas tree.
Her heart breaks for her children, for this Christmas was cold and hard.

Getting up, she walks to her oldest child's room, looking at the sleeping daughter.
So thankful for her loving kindness for her sister and brother, a gift for each she bought.
Closing the door, she then walks down the hall, looking at the youngest daughter sleeping.
A single tear slips down her face, a shaking hand wipes it away.

Setting once more in the comfort chair, the mother prays to God.
Her head was bowed and her hands clasped, words of sadness, sorrow and giving up were spoken.
The mother, then prayed for the less fortunate that had less than she and her family.
As she was finishing her prayer, she felt a warmth and peace settle over her.

The mother, not wanting the feeling to leave, looked again at the Christmas tree.
The tears she held inside, silently slid down her face.
Her heart was filled with happiness and love, for God helped her realize, she was blessed.
For she and her family were alive, healthy, had shelter from the cold, food to fill their belly,  and most of all, LOVE FOR ONE AND ALL.
Hello to all. I know that this is not one of my best poems, but I wanted to share it just the same. I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas.
